Gayle: Hello Dawn! Just breezing through to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas! Hope you are all well, and you have lots of coffee in the cupboard.
Gayle: Hi Dawn! I've stopped in now and then, but haven't left a tag. Hope you are all OK, maybe just busy. I hope you and yours had a very Happy Thanksgiving yesterday. We are all still getting over colds, so it was a kind of quiet day, just us. Anyway, know that I think of you, still, nearly everytime I brew a pot of coffee.
Gayle: Haven't done much journaling lately, but I'm back. Had to stop in and "see" you. Everytime I brew a pot of coffee, I think of you and your love of coffee. BTW, I like your clipart there. I have spent a lot of time searching for clipart, and wondering how one creates it. Now I know you have to use the mouse. I can't imagine I'd be very good at it. Must be like trying to draw with your toes. Oh well. Have a great week!
Denise: Just checking in! I know it's been awhile! Sorry!

Carolyn: Hi Dawn - thanks for visiting my group - good to see you Call again sometime!! Be good to seee ya!!
Dawn: Hello Gayle! No problem on sending this link out, actually thanks! I made 2 loafs of the bread and they are almost gone, its a big hit with kids Wow! you all sew! Thats great! wish I learned to do this years ago. I would think all that bead work would take a looooong time, but I bet it was worth it! Those dresses are beautiful!Oh no worries about the search, I have to at least try the coffees I havn't tried, it's a hobby also. I have a few more stores left in town that I havn
Dawn: Thank you Wendy for the compliment & visiting!
wendy: Love your look. It's really coffee like. Cool.
Gayle: Hope you don't mind, I just e-mailed a link for your recipe here to my Mom, sibs and SIL. It looks good. Wish I could whip some up.
Gayle, continued: to make. Wendy made 3 of the dresses, and I made mine. We both shared my mother's single sewing machine. It's got a little hairy at times! But all the bead work had to be done by hand, so we were adequately occupied.
Gayle: Hi Dawn! Thanks for visiting me. Thankfully, Chubby does not need glasses. If he did, this would be me: I'm sorry you are having trouble finding that coffee. It's just sold in the grocery stores. However, our local Walmart does not carry it, and neither does the one local grocery store. They carry other Maxwell House coffees, but not the 1892. I have to go to one particular grocery chain here to get it, and it NEVER goes on sale. BTW, the dress took a LONG time
Dawn: Hello Gayle! Thanks for the company, always nice of you visiting Wow! You sewed that beautiful gown? That's a talent! I don't think I will get that advance, but I can dream Yeah that is a bummer about your tag board, esp. after getting that message about your journal!! By the way, I can't find the coffee brand in the stores by us (the 1892) Do you get that in a specialty store? Im still searching
Gayle, part 2: problem was widespread. Hope that whatever you decide to sew up, it will be fun at least. I've not done much lately. The most difficult project (after that bridesmaid dress I'm wearing on my journal from Wendy's wedding) was Michael's tiger costume. I used that faux fur... hard to work with! But he was darling in it anyway. I can't post a photo that I have of him here, because it's from a studio. I can e-mail it to you though, if you want. Let me know if you do.
Gayle, part 1: Thanks for stopping by my journal. It looks like your weather is pretty much like ours. The weather is perfect. Sunny with a few clouds, and LOW humidity. Makes me feel like dancing! About the tag thief, it seems that nearly everyone lost their most recent tags, going back about a week. I freaked because I lost my tag from Steve at the JOTW telling me I had won. And all the initial congratulatory tags. I was very sorry to loose them. As I hopped to other journals, I found the
Me: Hello Gayle! awww thanks for thinking of me. Glad coffee brings me to mind Wow! You sound busy. What's a tag theif? Is it somewhat like a hacker? strange.
Gayle: Hi Dawn! Thanks for tagging me! There is a tag thief on the loose. Seems everyone lost their most recent ones. Hey, I thought of you today (and yesterday) as I brewed a second pot of coffee, in the late afternoon. I have to drive to take and pick up my hubby to and from work each day. The drives are long, and they make me sleepy. So, I take along a supersized coffee Wish I had some to go with it!
Gayle again: I just noticed you have a poll. I have one too. They are really fun. (Robin's Nest has a good one!) I had to laugh when I thought about what I swap... hmm, bills and payments. I used to do much more personal letters, but with e-mail and journals, what news can I share that they haven't read already? LOL!
Gayle: Hi Dawn! Thanks for tagging me too! I'm afraid the 1892 coffee isn't very exotic, but it is one of the most expensive Maxwell House coffees, if that's of any consequence. Maybe that's the proof in the pudding, as to why it's my favorite. I'm having my first cup now. Thankfully, Michael woke up and played by himself for about an hour before I woke up. I'm still moving in slow motion... Got a BIG mug
Me: ahhh good to hear from another coffee lover !! I will sample this Maxwell house 1892 soon, sounds good I will give your advise a try also, thanx! Maybe even frebreze also might help. So glad there's a lot of cat owners out there
Gayle, again: BTW, what your husband is doing is fine (spraying water on the cat), as far as I know. I used this method with Chubby, and he didn't like it and quit most of his worst behaviors. But persistence and consistency is the key!
Gayle: Oooh, I love a good cup of coffee too! Maxwell House 1892... (not too much bite) is my current favorite. I've liked Columbian blend too, but that's old now. Sorry your cat has been carrying on. It does happen though. If he is spraying, he's marking his territory. After having too many cats in our house (all fixed) we learned to eliminate their territories with a specially labeled deoderizer for pet stains, etc. Eventually, they gave it up.
Me: Thanks Caissa for the advice We might have to take him in to the vet, he does this off & on, seems like he restarts on Thursday for some reason
caissa: for some reason, I can't seem to post a reply to posts. Make sure that your cat doesn't have an issue with the condition of his litterbox, and clean all of the spots with something made to get rid of pet stains. If he can smell it, he'll continue to pee there. If that doesn't work, take him in to see the vet. Some cats can get UTIs one right after another, and if they're not treated quickly, it can cause permanent damage. Also make sure that he has a ready supply of clean water at all times.
Me: Hey give this a try

Hello!

Thanks for stopping by!

Not much but sewing has been going on here. I can now sew without bunching the material up, now just to conquer the thread breaking on me a lot, lol. I have made a few pot holders just to practice on. And a few mending things for the kids. I almost have the hang of it

We just had some friends give us a great deal of zucchini fresh out of their garden! I'll be making some zucchini bread a bit. I love to add pineapples to this recipe. The kids will eat their vegtables this way.

(I will post the recipe. This one was given to me by a very sweet lady)

Zucchini Nut Loaf

  • 1 Cup Grated Unpeeled Zucchini
  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/2 Cup Oil
  • ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  • 1 1/2 Cup of Flour
  • 1 Teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Nutmeg
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Grated Lemon Peel
  • 1/2 Cup of Chopped Walnuts
  • (opt.) 6 oz. can of Chopped Pineapple

In mixing bowl beat Zucchini, Sugar, and Egg together. Add oil. Mix well.

Stir together Flour, Cinnamon, Salt, Soda, Nutmeg, Baking Powder, and Lemon Peel, stir into Zucchini mixture, fold in nuts. Pour into a greased 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 x 2 1/2 inch loaf pan. Bake at 325 degrees til done. About 60 to 65 min. Cool in pan for 10 minutes. Remove from pan, cool loaf throuoghly. Wrap and store loaf overnight before slicing.

(This recipe can be doubled)

Wishing everyone a beautiful day

I really like your "quote of the day" here. I should write that down and plaster it to the front of the frig!

Sounds like your sewing is coming along nicely. We all go through the little messes with it... don't give up. You'll get to the point where you can almost sew in your sleep. Then you just have to be careful that you don't run your finger under the moving needle!

Just before I made Michael's last costume, I did something to really mess up my machine, and I had to go to the Home Depot for little tiny screwdrivers to fix it. I don't recommend doing that, but we were on a deadline and had no extra money to send it out to be fixed. It was a rather small thing, but if only I'd had hands the size of a gerbil's hands, the job would have been easier! It was tight quarters.

BTW, I was sewing for over 30 years, off and on, before I found out that I needed a different kind of needle for knits vs. weaves. Suddenly, the job was a lot easier. Why someone didn't tell me earlier? My grandmother had taught me to sew when I was 7... first pin cushions, then doll clothes (very basic designs). She never switched needles either... just kept going with whatever type of fabric. She used to play with the tension knob, but threatened me to NEVER touch it myself. Not on her machine at least. But I knew she loved me, regardless.
